What Is a Link in Bio? How to Make One for Free

A link in bio is one link in your social profile that opens a page with all your links. What it is, how to make one for free, and what to put on it.

A link in bio is the one clickable link in your Instagram, TikTok or YouTube profile, pointed at a page that holds everything else you want to share. Social apps give you one link, or a few, so a link in bio page turns that one spot into your socials, your work, your shop and a way to reach you. You can make one for free on Keepp in a few minutes, and it works as a small website too.

When someone says “link in bio”, they mean “tap the link in my profile”. The page that link opens is the link in bio page: a simple mobile page with your name, a photo, and a list of links or cards.

It’s called a bio link, a link page, a link in bio website or a personal link page. They all mean the same thing: one address, like keepp.link/yourname, that you put in every profile you have.

Because a profile has room for one website, and most people have more than one thing to share. A musician has a new single, a tour page and a merch store. A small business has a menu, a booking calendar and an Instagram shop. A link in bio puts all of them behind the one link the profile allows, and you change it whenever you like without touching your profile.

It also gives you one link to put everywhere else: an email signature, a business card, a QR code on a flyer, a podcast description.

  1. Pick a tool and claim your name. On Keepp you claim your page at keepp.link/yourname.
  2. Add your profile. Your photo, your name and a line about what you do.
  3. Add your links. Your socials, your latest video, your shop, your booking page.
  4. Publish and copy your link.
  5. Paste it into your profile. On Instagram it goes in Edit profile, under Links. On TikTok it goes in the Website field. Putting your link in your bio shows each app.

That’s the whole job. The rest is deciding what goes on the page.

Most link in bio pages are a column of identical buttons. Someone who tapped through for one thing has to guess which button it is. Keepp is built so the page shows what each link is before anyone taps it.

Every link can be a card, with a picture, a short description, a price or promo code and its own button, on the free plan, for as many links as you like. Your social profiles sit in a row of icons at the top, so the buttons below are for the things that matter. You start from one of 21 personal templates or 20 business ones and change anything you want.

The same page can do more than link out. It can sell products and digital downloads with Stripe checkout, with the money going to your own Stripe account. It can take bookings, collect sign-ups with a form, and answer questions in a live chat. Every product, booking and card has its own link and QR code, so a post about one thing can open that thing directly. That’s why we call it a website and link in bio in one.

Start with what someone who just found you wants next:

  • Who you are, in one line under your name
  • Your best or newest thing, at the top: a new video, a launch, an event
  • Your socials, as icons, so they don’t crowd the page
  • A way to buy or book, if you sell anything
  • A way to reach you: email, WhatsApp, or a contact form

Keep it short enough to scan. Five well-labelled cards do better than twenty plain links.

Common questions

Is a link in bio free? Yes. Keepp’s free plan includes your page, unlimited links and cards, social icons, and selling and bookings at 5% a sale.

What’s the difference between a link in bio and a website? A link in bio is a single page made for phones and for traffic from social profiles. A Keepp page can also have several pages, a menu and your own domain, so it can be your website too.

Can I use my link in bio on more than one app? Yes. It’s one link, so you can put it on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, Threads and anywhere else.

Is “link in bio” only for Instagram? No. It started there, but every social app with a profile has the same limit, so the same page works on all of them.
