Ask What You Need to Know, Right at Checkout

Add custom questions to any product or booking — sizes, engraving text, allergy info, event details — and get the answers snapshotted to that exact order, no separate form required.

By Keepp Team

Most things you sell or book aren’t fully described by a price and a Buy button. A t-shirt needs a size. An engraved gift needs the text to engrave. A haircut needs to know if there’s a color allergy. A photography session needs a shoot location. None of that is optional information — it’s the difference between fulfilling the order correctly the first time and messaging the customer back to ask, which is slower for you and worse for them.

Every product and booking on Keepp can carry its own set of custom questions, asked right there in the checkout or booking flow, before the order or appointment is confirmed. The answers are saved as part of that specific order — not floating in a separate inbox you have to match back up.

What a question can be

A question is one of seven field types, picked per question: short text, long text (for anything that needs more than a line — special instructions, a message for a gift note), email, phone, a single-select dropdown (pick one: size, color, tier), a multi-select (pick any that apply: add-ons, dietary restrictions), or a social handle field (useful when a booking or sale runs through an Instagram or TikTok mention). Each one is independently markable required — if it matters enough that you can’t fulfill the order without it, the checkout won’t complete until it’s answered.

You can add up to 30 questions to a single product or booking offering, though most need far fewer. A t-shirt might need one (size). A custom cake order might need four (flavor, size, message, allergy notes). A wedding photography booking might need three (venue, second shooter yes/no, must-have shot list).

Where the answers end up

Answers aren’t a separate submission you have to cross-reference against an order number. They’re captured as part of that order or booking at the moment it’s created, so when you open a purchase or an appointment in your dashboard, the customer’s answers are right there next to who bought it and what they paid — not in a different tool, not in a spreadsheet you’re maintaining by hand, not in a form response that arrived with no obvious link to the order it belongs to.

Why this lives in checkout instead of after it

The alternative most tools push you toward is: sell the thing first, then separately ask for the details — a follow-up email, a link to a Google Form, a DM asking “what size did you want?” That gap is where orders get delayed, customers get annoyed at being asked twice, and you end up doing manual reconciliation between a payment record and a form response that may or may not ever come back.

Asking at the moment of the sale or the booking closes that gap. The information you need to actually deliver the order exists by the time the order exists — nothing to chase down afterward, nothing that can go unanswered because the customer already paid and stopped paying attention to a follow-up email.

Two use cases get their own deeper coverage: stop sending customers to a separate form after they buy covers products specifically, and collect client intake info without a separate step covers the booking side, including why that matters more the further in advance something is booked.

Common questions

Can I reuse the same questions across multiple products or bookings? Each product or booking offering has its own independent question set right now — set once per offering, so a t-shirt’s size question and a cake’s flavor question don’t interfere with each other.

What happens if a customer skips a required question? The checkout or booking can’t be completed until every required question is answered — there’s no way to end up with a paid order missing information you marked as necessary.

Can I change the questions after a product has already sold? Yes — editing a product or booking’s questions only affects orders placed after the change. Answers already collected on existing orders stay exactly as the customer submitted them.

Where to start

Add a question to any existing product or booking offering from its editor — pick a type, write the question, mark it required if you can’t fulfill the order without it. Set up your profile if you haven’t yet, then sell a product or take bookings with the exact details you need built in from the first order.
