Add a Spotlight to Your Page

Add a Spotlight: a card and a small pop-up that asks visitors to join your email list, buy a product, book, follow a link or open a flyer. Set where it shows, when it pops up, and read how it performs.

Part of: Know your audience

A Spotlight asks visitors to do one thing. It can sit on your page as a card, open from a button beside Share, and pop up by itself when a visitor has stayed a while, scrolled halfway, or is about to leave. A page has one Spotlight, and it’s part of the Influencer plan.

Add the block

  1. Open the editor and go to Add.
  2. Under Collect data, tap Spotlight.
  3. The block lands on your page with a sign-up ready to go. Change the heading and text to your own.

Choose what it asks for

In the block’s Content tab, What visitors can do has five options:

  • Subscribe. Visitors type their email and tap the button. Every sign-up lands in Forms and leads under Subscribers.
  • Product. The button opens one of your product blocks, with its checkout. Pick the product from the list, which shows the product blocks on your page.
  • Booking. The button opens one of your booking blocks, with its calendar. Pick it the same way.
  • Link. The button opens any web address in a new tab.
  • Image. Upload an image, or pick one with Gallery, and add a link. The image is the whole Spotlight, shown uncropped, and tapping it opens the link. Use it for a flyer you designed yourself, like an event poster or a sale graphic.

For every option but Image, Button wording sets the button’s text. Leave it empty to use the default: Subscribe, Take a look, Book now or Find out more.

For an Image, the heading field is called Description. Visitors don’t see it; screen readers read it out in place of the image, so describe what the flyer says.

Choose where it shows

In the Settings tab, under Where it shows:

  • As a card on your page. On by default. The card sits among your blocks, where you place it, and takes the block’s colors.
  • As a button beside Share. A round button at the top of your page. Visitors can open the Spotlight from it at any time. Choose its icon underneath.

With the card off, the Spotlight takes no room on the page. It still pops up, and opens from the button if that’s on.

Choose when it pops up

Under When it pops up, turn on any of the three:

  • After 20 seconds on the page. On by default. If the visitor is in another tab when the 20 seconds are up, it waits until they come back.
  • Halfway down the page. When the visitor has scrolled half of your page.
  • When a visitor goes to leave. On a computer, when the pointer heads for the browser tabs or the close button. On by default.

The pop-up is a small window in the middle of the page. It closes with the X, the Escape key, or a tap outside it.

The rules it follows

Visitors see a Spotlight at the right moment and never more than that:

  • It never pops up as the page opens.
  • It pops up by itself once, at most, each time the page is loaded. After that, every trigger is off.
  • It never pops up again once the visitor has seen it, either because it popped up or because they opened it from the button beside Share.
  • It never pops up again once the visitor has acted on it, from the card or the pop-up: signed up, opened the product or booking, or followed the link.
  • It never opens on top of another page, such as a product, a booking or your chat.
  • The button beside Share always opens it.
  • Nothing is saved in the visitor’s browser, so your page needs no cookie banner.

Read how it performs

Open Analytics. Once visitors have seen your Spotlight, a Spotlight panel shows:

  • Seen: how many visits saw the pop-up.
  • Took it up: how many signed up, opened the product or booking, or followed the link.
  • Closed: how many closed it.
  • The share of visitors who took it up, and a breakdown by what opened it: the 20 seconds, scrolling halfway, going to leave, the button beside Share, or the card.

Sign-ups themselves are in Forms and leads, filed under Subscribers, with the email and the date. See read your submissions.

Questions

Can a page have more than one Spotlight? No. One per page, so a visitor never gets two pop-ups.

Does the email get a confirmation code? No. A Spotlight sign-up is one field and one tap.

Can I schedule it? Yes. Like any block, a Spotlight can show only between two dates. See schedule a block.

Can an AI app set it up? Yes. If you’ve connected Keepp to Claude, ChatGPT or another app, ask it to add a Spotlight. See connect Keepp to Claude or ChatGPT.
