Our guide to the Catskills: 6 things within 30 minutes

You could spend the whole stay on the porch, and plenty of guests do. For everyone else, these are the places we send our friends.
Forty minutes round trip, shaded the whole way. Go early on weekends and you will have it to yourselves.
Bread, honey, maple syrup and the best peaches in the valley in August. Cash is easiest.
A steep climb for about an hour, and a view across five counties from the top. Bring a layer, it is always colder up there.
Pancakes the size of the plate. Order the hash browns extra crispy.
Cold, clear and deep enough to jump. Water shoes help with the rocks.
No streetlights for miles. On a clear night, turn off the porch light and give your eyes ten minutes.
