Harbour Cranes

Three cranes on the Waalhaven, printed in two passes of coral and slate on heavy off-white stock. The colours are laid down separately and never line up perfectly, which is the whole reason to print this way rather than send it to a machine. Edition of forty, signed and numbered in pencil at the lower right. Sold unframed and rolled in a tube, because framing it yourself always costs less than paying me to ship glass.

Night Ferry

Night Ferry

The Maassluis ferry crossing after dark, midnight blue with the windows in a warm yellow that is printed last and slightly out of register on purpose. This one took four attempts to get right because the yellow has to sit on the blue without going green. Edition of forty on the same off-white stock as the cranes, so the two hang together if you want the pair.

The door is open from eleven until four and there is usually coffee. You can see the press, look through the plan chest of seconds and misprints, and buy those for half of what a clean one costs. No need to tell me you are coming.

Commissions

I take on four commissions a year, usually for a building, a boat or a stretch of water that means something to someone. It takes about six weeks from the first conversation to a finished edition, and I will tell you honestly if the thing you want is better as a photograph.
