How to plan an elopement in Denmark

Denmark is one of the easiest places in Europe to get married, and one of the most beautiful to do it quietly. This is the order I walk couples through.

Start with the paperwork
Apply for permission to marry before you book anything else. It is done online and is usually quick, but everything else depends on it.
Choose a town hall or a place that means something
A town hall ceremony is simple and lovely. A beach, a forest or a cliff on Møn takes a little more planning and is worth it.
Plan around the light, not the clock
Danish summer evenings stay golden until late. A ceremony at seven and portraits at nine is a very good day.
Bring two people, or none
Witnesses can be your closest friends or two strangers we find on the day. Either way, it stays yours.
Book the photographer early
Summer weekends go first. Send me your date and I will tell you within a day whether I am free.
